Céline Fournier gives invited presentation at International Symposium on Evidence-based Cochrane Reviews in Haemato-Oncology
Céline Fournier was invited by the Cochrane Haematological Malignancies Group (CHMG), to participate and give a presentation at the International Symposium on Evidence-based Cochrane Reviews in Haemato-Oncology, to celebrate the 10th year anniversary of the Group. They suggested the presentation topic 'Quality of life' during the section focusing on clinical/methodological questions in relation to haematological malignancies. As a consumer referee, Céline has been commenting on reviews and protocols for nearly 10 years and is now consumer editor on their Editorial Board.
The conference was held at the University Hospital in Cologne, Germany on July 8th 2011. About 120 participants from Europe, the UK, USA, Canada, Israel and me from Australia participated, with guest speakers from all the above-mentioned countries/continents. Participants were mostly scientists, oncologists and statisticians, as well as representatives of government institutions and the pharmaceutical industry.
Presentations were 15 minutes with 5 minutes for questions. Céline's talk went well apart from one missing slide which she explained 'ad lib'. One question was briefly answered and others followed informally after the session. Céline participated in an Editorial Board meeting that evening and again the following morning.
