Abstract: The aim of this four-state  project is to develop an evidence-based clinical placement model for student nurses on practicum in residential aged care facilities that will promote the best possible quality teaching and learning experience for those students. To do this, qualitative and quantitative data have been collected to describe the clinical placement experiences of student nurses in residential aged care and a review of the literature has been carried out. An additional study aim is to test and refine a student placement log, establishing its reliability, validity, and feasibility so that it may be used in future work to test the model.
